Thompson Quarter Horses is a small, family run breeding program  in Yankton, South Dakota.   With thirty years of breeding experience, we  focus on producing a small number of QUALITY, PERFORMANCE bred horses each year with bloodlines that include Quarter Horse greats like Leo, Otoe, and Pacific Bailey.   Thompson Quarter Horses has produced horses that are being used competitively in barrel racing, bull dogging, and roping events from New York to Mexico.  Take a look at our stallions, brood mares, and horses for sale and you will see that while we may be a small breeder , we produce quality as good as you will find anywhere. 

As a family with 7 children, 5 of which still live at home, we understand the importance of keeping children involved in activities and that is why we are strong advocates of the 4-H programs.  Thompson Quarter Horses has started a 4-H partnering program where we will provide a foal to a youth participating in 4-H for them to train and show.  Normally youth will be allowed to keep the horse for two years, starting off with a weanling as a halter project and progressing all the way to showing it in snaffle competition.  Strong family participation, and excellent vet references required as well as approval of the facilities where the horse will be kept.  Contact us if you are interested in finding out more about this program.
